I will pay tribute to the great trumpeter Woody Shaw in a concert I’m producing on August 1 in Santa Fe at the Center for Spiritual Living. I will be assisted by some excellent musicians in this effort, including John Rangel on piano, Ben Finberg on trombone, Andy Zadrozny on bass, and John Trentacosta on drums. I’m learning so much in this process of working on Woody’s music. His improvising has always blown me away more than any other trumpeter, so it’s fantastic to be able to pay tribute to this great musician. Please come join us, it’s one night only!
I’m honored to be working with the Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living for this project. It’s a great venue with a positive vibe, and they’ve been wonderful to work with. The sound is excellent too. We will perform a sneak peek of a few numbers from the concert at their morning service this Sunday (7/27) so if you’ve been contemplating checking out their services anyway, it’s a good time to do so. We’ll play about 4 tunes total through the course of the service, which runs from 10am to 11:30am. Alternatively, you can check it out on their live webcast as well.
