JQ’s Cork-based jazz quintet combines the fire of classic hard bop jazz with the ebbs and flows of Ireland’s rich musical landscape. The group’s name is also inspired by Cork’s tidal river Lee, which continues to be a central figure in JQ’s awareness throughout the process of composing new music for this group.
Formed in early 2026, Fire Tides began a monthly jazz brunch residency at The Bodega in Cork starting in May. The group is dedicated to creating and workshopping original compositions in an ongoing process of honing its sound, and continues to evolve as the band explores vectors of inspiration.

Fire Tides is preparing to record its first album in late 2026, aiming for a release date in spring 2027.
